We do hire and prefer to work with people we like… both women and men. These people interact with us everyday — whether they are directly working with us on projects or just sit with us occasionally in the lunchroom. On the surface, is important to be liked — to be someone your peers think of respectable, trustworthy, communicates well, is enjoyable, friendly etc. Look deeper — these skills for likability start at home and are further developed by interacting at school and in play as young people. As humans we are quick to learn behavior about how to follow OR how to attract, retain and lead peer groups. This translates through to our career experiences, as we either become followers OR turning our likability skills on to full power — to LEAD!
